Gold mining has never been commercially successful in Kansas. Prospectors can find small amounts of gold, mainly fine textured particles in many parts of the state, but these placer gold deposits are nowhere near as rich as those found to the west in Colorado and Wyoming. Some of the larger rivers that drain this rich gold country does produce small amounts of gold.
